HUMAN - KARTHIAN

MEDIUM HUMANOID

Humans are not the eldest, nor the strongest, nor the most agile of races, yet they are the most common upon the continents. This is due to the fact that humans are flexibly adaptive to most environments and opportunities, harshly judge those that are not alike and spread really, really quickly. Add to that a suprisingly high potential for great minds, and humans have risen to create a dominant civilization upon the central lands of the realm. Humanity has survived many ages but their history has often been rewritten, destroyed and simply forgotten due to their warlike tendencies. Since their age dawned many millenia ago, humanity spread and split into many variants, each evolving depending on their settled area.

By far the most common of all human variants and creatures alike upon the vast lands of Avorkarth are the noble, sprawling and militant Karthians. With their massive empire of seven fiercely inter-warring major kingdoms and many more lesser kingdoms, most karthians believe themselves to be the only true humans and the Light's representation upon the realm.

KARTHIAN CULTURE


Though Karthians are united by their creed, at heart theirs is a turbulent culture. The kingly thrones that govern the seven kingdoms are highly sought and the line of kings changes hands semi-regularly. Wars between the seven kingdoms, the lesser kingdoms or even dukes and duchesses have quickly broken out if no other threat is brought to attention due to humanity's greed. As such, Karthians are most often proud of their humanity first, their kingdom second and their servitude last, but will unite, lock arms and stand together without hesitation against any outside threat. This unfortunately leads to most Karthians being immediately suspicious of any who are not Karthian, even more so if not human and truly not if one is not humanesque.

As noted, the Karthians have seven major kingdoms, which are as follow :

KARTHIAN RELIGION


Religion is the pillar of Karthian culture, shown through the worship of the divine light and its caller, Nordannon, as well as his council of three Archons. Though many other gods, deities and religions are worshipped or appear in tales, the Holy Church of Nordannon disapproves of such worship, sometimes with deathly harsh retribution. The only other major view that is semi-accepted is the Daelden's worship of Arenya. Though Nordannon worshippers disagree of Arenya as being the creator, they accept her as possibly being a hidden Archon and her counterpart, Ul'gath, is either a powerful spirit bound to Eselian's realm or a demon that steals from it.

KARTHIAN DIMORPHISMS


The male and female of the human species has very slight differences, other than their visual distinctions. Males are of slightly stronger build by nature, while the female tends to be more slender and graceful, although both are able to ascend and surpass one another in these regards. Beyond this, they are very much alike in mind and abilities.
